A few days ago, Melanin Fleece Tights had its first-ever television interview on Good Day DC. Sitting under those studio lights, cameras rolling, knowing this wasn't a phone screen or a comment section - it was live, it was real, and it was DC. I remember thinking: however this goes, we're about to introduce Melanin Fleece Tights to people who have never heard of us before.
Why This Interview Meant So Much
This brand started with one idea. Fleece-lined tights made specifically with Black and brown women in mind. Shades that actually matched. A fit that actually worked. That's the whole reason MFT exists, and that's exactly what I got to talk about on air.
Getting the chance to say that out loud, on a DC news segment, to an audience far bigger than our usual following - it hit different. This wasn't a caption or a reel. It was a moment where the "why" behind this brand got to live outside of Instagram and actually reach people.
Talking Tall and Stirrup
One of the biggest parts of the conversation was getting to introduce our tall and stirrup designs. These weren't small additions - they came from listening to what our community actually wanted. More length. More styling options. A silhouette that works whether you're pairing tights with boots, layering under a skirt, or just want that stirrup look that's been trending.
Getting to explain that on camera, in real time, felt like validation. Not just for me, but for every person who told us what they needed and trusted that we'd actually build it.
What This Moment Represents
This interview wasn't just press to me. It's proof. Proof that a brand built specifically for melanin-rich skin tones, for textures and fits that mainstream tights brands overlook, can sit on a major DC news segment and be taken seriously. Proof that representation isn't a "nice to have" - it's a business, a community, and a movement people want to hear about.
We started MFT because we were tired of settling. This interview is one of the first times the world outside our own community got to hear exactly why.
Grateful for the Moment
To everyone who's supported us from the very beginning - this one was for you. Every DM, every share, every person who told a friend about their favorite shade - you're the reason we had a story worth telling on live TV.
This is our first interview. It won't be our last.
