A New Chapter for Melanin Fleece Tights: Quality, Integrity & the Future

From day one, Melanin Fleece Tights™ was created with a clear mission:
to innovate for women who had long been overlooked.

We were proud to be the first brand to bring fleece-lined tights designed specifically for Black and Brown skin tones to the market, along with the first true Plus Size, Tall, and Stirrup options. Representation, comfort, and inclusivity weren’t afterthoughts for us. They were, and still are, the foundation of everything we do.

For the past two years, our commitment to innovation and quality has been our North Star. That commitment is also what has set MFT apart, especially as more brands began entering the space using similar formulas, sizing concepts, and color directions. We’ve always believed transparency matters, so we want to share the next chapter of our journey openly.

Why We Are Shifting Production

As we began preparing for the 2025–2026 season, it became increasingly clear that our former manufacturing partner could no longer meet the level of quality we refuse to compromise on. The alignment simply wasn’t there anymore - neither in values nor in standards.

Continuing that partnership would have meant sacrificing the excellence that makes Melanin Fleece Tights™ what it is. And that is something we will never do.

So, we made a difficult but necessary decision: we walked away.

The Good News: A New Team, A Better Future

We are thrilled to share that we have now partnered with a new production team—one that not only respects our brand, but actively protects it. This new team prioritizes craftsmanship, safeguards our designs, and understands the standard of quality our community expects and deserves.

The Hard Part: Excellence Takes Time

Because these improvements are meaningful and require proper development, we want to be transparent:

Our upgraded tights will not be ready in time for the upcoming winter season.

Rushing the process would only deliver shortcuts ,not quality. And Melanin Fleece Tights™ has always stood for doing things the right way, not the fastest way.

Stepping back into the workshop now means the tights you receive in 2026 will be the best we’ve ever created; stronger, softer, more inclusive, and more durable than anything currently on the market.
