An important update on the evolution of Melanin Fleece Tights
MFT was created with one mission: to innovate for women who had long been overlooked. We were the first to bring fleece lined tights designed specifically for Black and Brown skin tones to the market, and the first to offer true plus sizes, tall, and stirrup options.
Innovation and striving for quality have been our North Star throughout. It is what sets MFT apart - especially as most brands went to the same manufacturer to reproduce our products using our hard-developed templates and formulas under different names.
As we entered production for the 2025 to 2026 season, it became clear that, on top of the ongoing concerns around integrity, our former manufacturer could no longer meet the level of quality MFT was always striving for. Our values no longer aligned, and continuing with them would have meant compromising everything that makes MFT... MFT. So we made the difficult but necessary decision to walk away.
The good news? We have partnered with a new production team who not only respects the brand but fiercely protects our designs, prioritizes quality at every step, and understands the standards you expect from us. Together, we are improving fits, correcting issues we identified over the past seasons, and building the upgrades this industry has needed for far too long.
The hard part is this: these improvements take time. And because we are committed to delivering excellence, not shortcuts, we will not be able to release the upgraded tights in time for this winter season. Stepping back into the workshop is the only way to bring you the Melanin Fleece Tights™ you deserve.

The Mission Has Never Changed
From the very beginning, Melanin Fleece Tights was created to solve a problem that many people didn't even realize existed.
When we launched in 2023, fleece-lined tights for Black and Brown women simply weren't available.
We introduced shades designed specifically for melanin-rich skin tones. We expanded sizing. We developed solutions for women who had been overlooked by the industry for years.
What started with a few shades quickly grew into a movement centered around representation, inclusivity, and innovation.
Every decision we've made since then has been guided by one question:
How can we make this product better for the women we serve?
When Good Isn't Good Enough
As our community grew, so did our expectations.
And while growth is exciting, it also comes with responsibility.
Over time, we identified opportunities to improve our products even further—from fit and comfort to construction, durability, and overall quality.
We knew the next version of Melanin Fleece Tights had the potential to be our best yet.
But achieving that vision required something important:
A production partner who shared our commitment to excellence.
When it became clear that our existing manufacturing relationship could no longer support the standards we wanted for the future of the brand, we faced a difficult choice.
Accept compromises.
Or start over.
We chose to start over.

Even when that decision is harder in the short term.

Today, we're working alongside a new production team that understands our vision and shares our commitment to quality.
Together, we're refining.

And reimagining what fleece-lined tights can be.
Our goal isn't simply to bring Melanin Fleece Tights back.
Our goal is to bring them back better.
We're using this time to evaluate everything from fit and construction to overall customer experience so that when Melanin Fleece Tights returns, it reflects the standards our community deserves.
Why the Wait Is Worth It
We know waiting isn't easy.
We know many customers look forward to wearing Melanin Fleece Tights every winter season.
And we don't take that support for granted.
But we also believe that rushing a product to market simply to meet a timeline would be doing our community a disservice.
Quality takes time.

And we'd rather be temporarily absent than permanently average.
