Sometimes the best validation doesn't come from us; it comes from our community.
Creator @shopthehood recently put out a video setting the record straight: fleece-lined tights made for women of color didn't just "arrive" from wherever the algorithm says they did. They started right here, with Melanin Fleece Tights.
Setting the Record Straight
In the video, @shopthehood calls out the confusion that's been floating around; some people genuinely had no idea that fleece-lined tights designed for melanin-rich skin tones trace back to a Black-owned brand. That brand is us.
The message was simple and direct: support the real originators. Don't get caught up in copycats riding on work that was never theirs to claim.
Why This Matters
We didn't build Melanin Fleece Tights to chase a trend. We built it to fill a gap that had been ignored for far too long: fleece-lined tights that actually matched and fit women of color, in more than one shade and more than one size.
That took years of investment, testing, and pushing back when we were told certain sizes were "too big" to make. We kept going anyway, because we knew the people who needed those options were real, and they deserved better.
Support the Originators
When creators like @shopthehood use their platform to point people back to where something actually started, it means everything. It's a reminder that the story behind a product matters just as much as the product itself.
If you've been wearing fleece-lined tights and didn't know the story behind them, now you do. Shop the original. Shop Melanin Fleece Tights.
